Contractor was a brilliant pupil in Toronto and trained to be a classical ballet dancer. She attended an Etobicoke School of the Arts an specialized arts public high school where she did not only dance but also studied theater. When she was 16, after nearly 10 years of dancing Contractor realized she wanted to take up acting as a profession. After graduating high school, Contractor received a scholarship from The University of Toronto to pursue a dual major in psychology and sociology. In addition, she obtained a Master's degree in Theatre. Contractor was a student who'd completed her university degree was invited to audition in an open audition for Pericles in the world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the part. Her work was highly acclaimed for the 92 shows which she was a part of. The play won her the award in 2002 for the most outstanding production of the Year from Canadian critics. Contractor accepted an invitation to attend Stratford's Conservatory program. The Conservatory has only 8 men and four females accepted for the 20-week course in the classical theatre. Contractor's place in the following play season was secured and she was chosen of Hermia.
